To play DemocraCity with your students in the classroom, register in the DemocraCity Control panel and generate your session key - it only takes a few minutes. Your students will use this key to join the game, allowing you to track their progress. See our step-by-step guide for more information.
Mandatory modules provide a starting point for students to explore foundational civic content. We have curated itineraries with mandatory modules that not only align with the curriculum but create a learning pathway.
DemocraCity is a fully interactive 3D education game. We have screen recording (videos) of the game being played. You can see all the modules represented with a play-through video. The experience of playing DemocraCity is fully interactive with students taking an active role in learning.
DemocraCity is free to download and use.
After your session, log out by clicking on the arrow next to your email at the top right corner of the screen. From the drop-down menu, select ‘log out’.

You can change your password any time after you have logged into DemocraCity. Click on the arrow next to your email at the top right of the screen. From the drop-down menu, select ‘Change Password’.
Once you have updated your password, click on the white cross in the dialogue box to exit.
After you have logged in, you can enable two-factor authentication using Microsoft or Google Authenticator. Click on the arrow next to your email at the top right of the screen. From the drop-down menu, select ‘Enable 2FA’.

DemocraCity has been approved or whitelisted by some State and Territory Education Departments. The AEC is working with each jurisdiction to seek endorsement of the game. For more information contact your IT Department, relevant authority or Democracitygame@aec.gov.au.

The only site that needs to be accessed is https://democracity.aec.gov.au/ . This is the only domain DemocraCity communicates with. If it can’t be accessed, you may need to ask relevant authorities to specifically whitelist or exclude it.
The website is accessed by teachers to use the Control Panel and by the DemocraCity game to create data connections.

Teachers will be required to enter a valid email address to access the Control Panel which will be securely stored. The Control Panel allows student progress tracking via their email address.
Students will be required to enter a valid email address to start the game on their device and also return to a ‘save point’ in the game.
We don’t store IP addresses, location or any other identifiers. No other personal information is collected. Data collected as part of analytics is anonymised.
